ABOUT MONICA'S HEART
Monica’s Heart, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to placing retired racing greyhounds into loving homes. Since our inception in 1996, we have placed over one thousand retired racers.
After we receive the dogs from the racetrack, we have their veterinary services performed – spay/neuter, immunizations, heartworm test, dental, and any other essential medical treatment. The greyhounds are then placed in foster homes until they are adopted.
The group holds fundraisers to help offset the cost of the veterinary services, food, and other incidental charges. Some of these include the annual Monica’s Heart Summer Blast picnic; bake sales, hoagie sales, annual used book/video sale, and the sale of greyhound-related merchandise.
Funding for Monica’s Heart is totally dependent on adoption fees, membership, fundraisers, donations, and volunteer efforts of our members. Membership is open to all who want to help greyhounds that need a good home when they have retired from racing. We will gladly accept any donation of time, skills, and of course, monetary assistance. Contact us if you can help, or click on our membership application and join us!
Our current goal is to have a kennel to house the dogs received into Monica’s Heart. It is through the generosity and hard work of the members of Monica’s Heart that we have been able to place a steady stream of retired racers through our program.
Please feel free to browse through our site – learn about greyhounds, visit with the foster dogs, let us know what you think, check out our schedule of events, and get to know us!
